Recent Advances in the Use of Phytase Enzyme in Diets for Growing Pigs
نویسنده
چکیده
The effect of phytase enzyme on the digestibility and availability of phosphorus (P) in soya-bean meal was investigated with grower pigs. In addition, the relative effectiveness of different parameters for assessing P availability in slope-ratio assays were compared. The addition of phytase increased growth rate (741 vs 835 g/d; P c 0.05>, lowered the FCR (2.37 vs 2.16; P c O.Ol), increased protein deposition (108 g vs 123 g/d; P c 0.051, and increased the apparent digestibility of P (0.45 vs 0.69; P c 0.01). There were considerable differences in the estimates of P availability depending on whether bone bending moment, total P retention or digestible P intake was the criterion of response. Phytase supplementation increased the availability of P in soya-bean meal from 0.11 to 0.69, when bone bending moment was the criterion of availability.

Improvement of phosphorus availability by microbial phytase in broilers and pigs.
Techniques have been developed to produce microbial phytase for addition to diets for simple-stomached animals, with the aim to improve phosphorus availability from phytate-P in plant sources. The activity of the crude microbial phytase showed pH optima at pH 5.5 and 2.5. The enzyme was able to degrade phytate in vitro in soya-bean meal, maize and a liquid compound feed for pigs. When microbial...

Two experiments involving 115 pigs were conducted to assess the efficacy of a microbial phytase (Allzyme Phytase; Alltech, Nicholasville, KY) produced by Aspergillus niger in low-P, corn-soybean meal-based diets. The phytase supplement contained 50 phytase units/g and 1.43% P. In Exp. 1, growing-finishing pigs were fed fortified corn-soybean meal diets formulated to be adequate (.50%) or inadeq...
متن کاملThe Efficacy of Aspergillus niger Phytase in Rendering Phytate Phosphorus Available for Absorption in Pigs Is Influenced by Pig Physiological Status1
We performed an experiment with 112 piglets, 32 growing-finishing pigs, and 12 sows during pregnancy and lactation to test the hypotheses that apparent total tract digestibilities of P and Ca as well as the efficacy of Aspergillus niger phytase in rendering phytate P available in pigs depend on pig physiological status. All pigs were fed diets with identical feedstuff composition either without...

Three experiments involving 162 pigs were conducted to assess the efficacy of phytase (Natuphos; BASF, Mount Olive, NJ) in low-P, corn-soybean meal-based diets. The phytase was produced by a recombinant Aspergillus niger. The phytase supplement contained 5,000 phytase units (PTU)/g. In Exp. 1 (66 pigs) and 2 (60 pigs), growing-finishing pigs were fed fortified corn-soybean meal diets formulated...

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of phytase superdoses alone or in combination with citric acid (CA) in canola meal-based diets severely limited in available phosphorus (Pa) on growth performance, plasma phosphorus (P), and tibia ash (TA) in broilers from 22 to 42 d of age. Two hundreds and eighty 21-d-old male broilers were used in 28 pens of 10 birds per each. The exper...
